About Us

The Lyrics Writing Course, as the name suggests, is dedicated to teaching people how to write lyrics. Our online course allows anyone in the world to learn lyric writing easily and at an affordable cost. Since lyric writing isn’t a typical subject in school, it can be hard to get formal training. That’s why we’re hereā€”to fill the gap and help those interested in writing songs gain the necessary skills and knowledge.

Our Mission

We aim to make lyric writing a common skill that anyone can use to express their feelings. We also want to popularize lyric writing education. Our ambition is to become the most popular lyric writing education platform and teach at least 5,000 students worldwide about lyric writing. Lyric writing shouldn’t just be a skill for professional lyricists, but a skill that ordinary people can have. They should be able to write lyrics in their daily lives to express their feelings and love.

Who is Behind This Site?

Jacob Carter

Hello! I’m Jacob Carter, the person who founded this site, Lyrics Writing Course. I’m a lyricist, and I’m passionate about helping you understand and write lyrics. Let me share a bit about myself and explain why I’m the right person to help you.

I started playing around with words at the University of Oxford, where I studied English Literature. I focused on contemporary poetry and song lyrics because I’ve always been intrigued by how words can make us feel things and paint pictures in our minds. While at Oxford, I wrote a big paper about how deep lyrics can be in today’s music, and that really got me hooked on dissecting song meanings.

But I didn’t stop at just studying. I also played guitar and was in a small indie band during my university days. This gave me a good sense of how music is put together and how lyrics are crafted. Being hands-on with songwriting helped me see things from the artist’s perspective.

I now offer a lyrics writing course to share everything I know. If you are interested, sign up for my course, and I will see you there. If you want to receive updates on lyric writing tips and analysis, subscribe to my newsletter.
